The Romantic Flute

On 2 May 2021, Mirna Ackers (flute) and Vital Stahievitch (piano) will join the International Holland Music Sessions with their program “The Romantic Flute

In the nineteenth century, Theobald Böhm became the founder of the modern flute and alto flute. During this concert in the Hoornder Kerk in Den Hoorn (Texel), flutist Mirna Ackers and Vital Stahievitch will take you on a journey through the music of this crucial period for the flute. You will hear music composed and arranged by the first modern flute virtuosos like Böhm and Paul Taffanel, and music that was arranged later, such as Franck’s famous Violin Sonata by Jean-Pierre Rampal. Ackers and Stahievitch, also respectively musicologist and art historian, bring to life the maturation of the modern flute along with stories and anecdotes.
